The teacher education program at 汉尼拔-LaGrange University requires all preservice teacher candidates to participate in varied and on-going field experiences and clinical practice. These school-based experiences provide candidates with opportunities to make connections between principles and theories learned in the university setting and the actual practice in birth-grade 12 classrooms.
Teacher candidates can expect to observe in public school classrooms and engage with practicing teachers during their first year at HLGU in the 100-level 领域经验 I course. Additional field experience coursework is required each year. 另外, a fieldwork component with a specific purpose is included in many professional education courses.
Background checks will be required for field and student-teaching experiences and again for certification in the state of 密苏里州. Teacher candidates pay all fees incurred. Applicants who have been convicted of a felony must identify themselves on the HLGU application form and provide the appropriate documents to the teacher education committee. Applicants who fail to disclose a personal felony conviction will be removed from the teacher education program.
